Heritage Garden Flower Seeds
Heritage Garden Seeds, From the Fort Vancouver Garden.
At a trading post in the 1830’s or at the end of the Oregon Trail, seeds were a valuable commodity. Most visitors to Fort Vancouver in the early 19th century were astonished at the size and variety of Dr. John McLoughlin’s garden. Flowers were important for beauty and some for medicinal needs. World-renowned botanists like David Douglas collected plants from the region and assisted McLoughlin in selecting specimens likely to flourish in the mild Northwest climate.
Raised in the Fort’s heritage garden, this is a set of three packages of authentic, old-fashioned flower seeds. Each packet contains different seeds. Tuck them into a greeting card or plant in your favorite garden.
