Bird Spot! at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site

We're introducing a new program for the inexperienced and veterans of bird watching. Thanks to volunteer Pam Gunn, an experienced birder, Bird Spot at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is underway. As we move ahead developing maps and methods and generally organizing volunteer efforts, you may enjoy this brief video of Pam's photos of the birds who frequent our site.

Historic travelers to this site by land and by sea were fascinated by the wildlife and birds of the region. Naturalists from around the world -- Thomas Nuttall, David Douglas, John Townsend and Captain Charles Bendire (US Army) recorded, sketched and sometimes named the "new" birds of this region.
