Women’s Voices from the Oregon Trail -- 25th Anniversary Edition

Susan Butruille’s Oregon Trail classic Women’s Voices from the Oregon Trail is back as the 25th Anniversary edition, with an expanded and updated “Guide to Women’s History Along the Oregon Trail.” Noted author Jane Kirkpatrick describes Susan’s book as “[M]y go-to book for capturing the emotion of women’s stories as they crossed the continent. It’s the authentic account of life, loss and hope that marks that journey, and is history as it should be written: as deeply moving story.”
Join Susan as she signs and reads from her book, sings a few songs, and tells of missionaries Narcissa Whitman and Eliza Spalding luxuriating in the comfort of Fort Vancouver following their harrowing 3,000-mile journey from New York, much of it on horseback. Susan will also tell of Oregon’s Abigail Scott Duniway’s vow along the Oregon Trail to write a Women’s Declaration of Independence, and Vancouver’s Esther Short, who confronted a Hudson’s Bay authority over her land claim, and had a park named after her.
