Children’s Storytime for Friends of Fort Vancouver

The Kite That Touched the Sky

A bilingual Chinese and English Illustrated Children’s book written by Jim Mockford and Jenny Farmer and Illustrated by Theresa Johnson

Cousins Jason and Emily may live far across the world from each other, but they both dream of flying colorful kites. When they meet, they visit a kite museum, and finally at a kite festival they get to fly a kite together. But the wind is not always cooperative, and the cousins work together to overcome challenges and finally see their kite soar high to touch the sky above. Told in both English and Chinese, the native languages of each cousin, The Kite that Touched the Sky is cross-cultural adventure of family, friendship, and dreams.

This book reading will be presented in English by author Jim Mockford who wrote the book for his grandchildren who live in China and the USA. Published by Kumquat Kids Productions during the summer of 2020 in the midst of the Covid Pandemic when in person book talks were not possible this is the first book reading by the author to be shared in the community and to celebrate the event there will be free coloring activities for children at the event.

The book is available for sale at the Fort Vancouver Gift Shop and online at - https://friendsfortvancouver.org/shop/online-store/the-kite-that-touched-the-sky
